Plant Patrollers on the Prowl

Hi Neighbors.

It’s time for our annual plant patrol! Over the next week or so (early September), you may see our plant patrol team slowly paddling by your shoreline peering into the water. We’ll be doing a survey of the plants in the water to make sure there are no invasive species. If we find anything suspicious we may take a sample or mark the spot with a buoy for identification. If we place a buoy near your house, we will retrieve it within the next week.

The best way for us to prevent invasive spread is to find them early and remove them according to best practices. (The removal practices may differ by species – which is why we mark them rather than remove them immediately.)

So don’t be alarmed if you see Elicia, Victor, Margo or Steve paddling around your dock. They’ll be moving along fairly quickly!

And remember, if you use your boats or water toys on other lakes, clean, drain and dry them before bringing them back to the pond!

Best,
The Plant Patrol Team
