Volker T., who received the CPA Camp Hat in 2024 for his lifesaving efforts on the pond, passed the honor of holding the hat along to Richard H. at our summer picnic. Volker noted Richard’s leadership in building a beautiful wooden kiosk at the public boat launch, which informs pond guests of best practices for boating on Maine water bodies. Richard is already ahead of the game for 2027, and has entrusted Elicia C. with a sealed package for the hat’s next recipient. She will present the hat on his behalf at the 2027 picnic. Richard also shared historical records of the hat’s journey (see below). If anyone has additional knowledge to add to this historical record, please share it with Elicia, who will update the document.
Richard and Celia: Thank you for your years of service and friendship to the pond and to our community. From monitoring loon health and water levels to rallying the association on social activities and serving as officers and leaders, you have been important contributors to making this neighborhood a special place. We will miss you and we encourage you to keep in touch!

Leaving our cottage is bitter sweet as we have spent 38 wonderful years here. Have many friends we will miss as we head back south to our home in Williamsburg VA. All of our 10 grandchildren have learned to swim and kayak on the pond and will have lasting memories of their time here. We wish you all good health and happiness on one of the most special places on earth.
