A few fragments of a loon egg (certainly from a previous season, not this one) were found washed up on the shore of the pond early this spring. Loon eggs are oval shaped, about 3″ long and have a pretty speckled pattern. Speaking of loon eggs, Nancy S. took a peek at our loon nesting raft a few weeks ago and saw three new eggs! Here’s hoping for a successful brood this summer.
